Dress Like a Teacher Day

The Bully Stop Challenge

What is the Bully Stop Challenge?
The Bully Stop Hackathon challenges participants to discuss, brainstorm, sketch and design vsolutions in the form of apps. Groups of youth will work alongside experts in tech, education, and law enforcement to develop a solution that can help eliminate syberbullying. This creative hackathon requires no coding experience!
Who Should Attend:
You should apply if you are:
  • passionate about getting involved in social justice groups and activities
  • looking for volunteer hours
  • curious about youth engagement, social media or technology
  • interested in putting an end to cyberbullying

Youth Ambassador to the United States of America

If you are 15-18 years old, returning to high school in September, commited to community service projects and have an interest in learing about the US, you are invited to apply to the Youth Ambassadors program. Selected youth will take part in a three week program this summer. No cost to apply and all travel expenses are covered by the program. See psoter in Guidance or speak with Ms. Archer. Tim and Trevor from the Seneca College Library Tech program have been hard at work processing new books since Feb 22. Come on into the library and see if there is anything of interest for your reading pleasure and delight for the upcoming break. If we don't have a book that you'd like to read we'll do our best to pick it up before the break.

Ms. Keane would like to congratulate the cast and crew of our Sears production for the awards they received on Wed evening. Congrats to Lorenzo Cicrone and Klaudio Uruci for their performance award, the entire cast of actors for their ensemble award for Cuase, the entire production crew (including Mr. Garnich) for their design awards, and to the writer's of the Tempest Within for their award for excellent adaption. All actors, writers, and crew members should be very proud. Congratulations again.

Swim

Congratulations to our Swimmnig OFSAA Athletes! Our two swimmers competed on Tuesday and Wednesday this week in Windsor were Alexander Lioa and Samantha Hartogsveld. Alexander had a very good result and finished 9th overall in the province for the 50m Breaststroke! Samantha swam in the very competitive Open category and had a very strong showing as well. Please give these Athletes Kudos for representing MCI and making us very proud!

Wrestling 

Congrats to our Wrestling OFSAA Athletes. Our two wrestlers were Andrew Parsons and Jovee Munroe who competed  last week in Windsor. Jovee had a very good result and finished 8th overall in the province! Andrew is the 2016 TDSB City Champion and he fought hard within the most difficult weight class at OFSAA, Please give these Athletes props for representing MCI and making us proud.

This $1000 scholarship is offered to graduating students who have distinguished themselves in the classroom and community as well as in sports. Nomination forms are available in Guidance - deadline is Friday, April 1st.
