DEAR

This afternoon, during the last period of the day a new reading program for the whole school will be launched. It is called the DEAR program. What is DEAR?
It stands for Drop Everything And Read. Why is the whole school doing this? It is a campaign to promote reading. If you have a book, bring it to your 4th period class. If you need reading materials come to the library at lunch! Enjoy the very first DEAR of 2015!

The University of Toronto Perspectives Conference is on Thursday, February 19th. This conference is for students in Grades 10, 11, and 12 who are taking Academic/U or M level, Gifted, Pre-AP and AP classes. The cost of this conference is $25 (cash only) which includes lunch. Summer Jobs + Summer Co-Op Credits

The TDSB is hiring students aged 16 and up to work in summer camps.

You need to enjoy working with children and you need to want to share your interest in Arts, Sports or Academics

Counsellors will earn $11 an hour for 7 weeks of full-time work and can also earn 2 co-op credits.

Investing in our Diversity Scholarship

The Investing In Our Diversity Scholarship Program recognizes the commitment of young people involved in anti-racism/diversity initiatives and building safe and healthy communities with scholarships of up to $4000. You can use this money for college, university, apprenticeship or trade school.

Attention Basketball Fans

There is a triple header boys' basketball game here today. Students are not permitted to watch the games until after the bell at 3:05 pm. All students must show their student ID to be admitted to the game. Please do not bring your bags into the gym.

Library Book Swap

Martingrove staff and students: the Martingrove Book Swap is an annual event that promotes the literacy within the school community. This year's Book Swap will be held on the morning of Wednesday, February the 11th. Staff and students are encouraged to bring in new and used books that will be exchanged for tickets. Please bring books to the library at any time and see Ms. Feller for your tickets.

Deadlines for Grads

Hey Grade 12's! Are you planning to go to college or university in September? The deadline to apply to Ontario Universities is next Wednesday, January the 14th.
The deadline to apply to Ontario colleges is February the 1st. Guidance Counselors are eager to help you- drop by for a quick question or make an appointment for more in depth conversations.
