Franco-Ontario Day

This year Franco-Ontario Day is officially being celebrated today, September 25th, which coincides with the anniversary of the Franco-Ontarian flag which was first flown in Sudbury in 1975.
This is a day to recognize the contributions of Ontario's Francophone (or French speaking) community to the cultural, historical, social, economical, and political life of the province Ontario.
The flag is broken up into two parts. One part has a green background with a white Fleur de Lys and the other half has a white background with the outline of the trillium flower (Ontario's flower) traced out in the green.

Ontario Universities Fair is happening this weekend!

All students in any grade and their families are invited to the Ontario Universities Fair this weekend at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, from 10-5 daily.
Meet representatives from every Ontario university, pick up viewbooks, ask questions and attend presentations.

Want to study at an English-language university in Quebec?

Bishop's and Concordia Universities are hosting presentations at the Textile Museum of Canada tomorrow at 10 am.
The Textile Museum is a short walk from the Metro Convention Centre, so you can visit the Quebec Universities presentation and then head over to the Ontario Universities Fair.

TDSB night school deadline approaching!

The deadline to apply for a TDSB night school course is next Tuesday, September 29.
Please be aware of the following important facts:
  1. There are strict rules about which courses you can take at night school--check with your counsellor to see if you are eligible.
  2. Some courses are already full--if you are eligible to take a course, sign up as quickly as possible.
  3. After requesting a course online, you must bring a signed permission form to guidance so that you can be approved.

Important notes from Guidance!


  1. Welcome back! We look forward to working with you this year.
  2. If you took a summer school course with another school board or with a private school, you must bring your report to Guidance to get the mark entered on your transcript. This is especially important if you need to prove that you have earned the prerequisite for a course you are currently enrolled in. Please bring report cards in ASAP.
  3. Registration for semester 1 night school and eLearning credits has begun! You must request a course online. Pick up an information sheet in Guidance with all of the steps explained.
  4. If you have requested a change in your timetable, check the file folder in Guidance to see if it has been made. Counsellors are working hard to make changes and course availability is constantly changing--keep checking the folder before school, after school, or at lunch.
