Fact: 1 in 4 (26%) of cancers diagnosed in women in Canada are Breast Cancer.
Fact: Good news, the mortality rates have decreased 43% since the peak in 1986 because of regular screening, advances in screening and improved treatments.

So reduce your risk, eat well, be active and donate towards more research.

Hey MCI, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Fact: 9% of all breast cancers are diagnosed before the age of 40.

Do you have your pink ribbon yet? Well this week make a donation and receive a pink ribbon. Donations of $5 or more will be entered into a raffle. And Thursday you can purchase some trinkets.

All proceeds will help fund more research.

Cross Country Team News

Congratulations to Madeline Smart-Reed who took 1st place in the Midget Girls race and Lindsay Tramble who won 2nd place in the Senior Girls race, yesterday at the OFSAA Qualifiers. The Midget Girls team took 23rd place, which allows them to also advance. The OFSAA Championships are on November 1st in Waterloo Ontario. Good Luck Girls...Go Bears!!!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month


  • Ground breaking research on prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment has all been made possible because of you and your generous donations!! Last year MCI was able to donate over $600 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
  • More week needs to be done and your support helps to fund the work of dedicated breast cancer scientists and clinicians.
Are you interested in helping out???? Well, there is a meeting: Wed. Oct. 8th in room 274 at beginning of lunch.

Beginning this week we will be distributing pink ribbons to anyone who is able to donate. Stay tuned for other events too.
