DEAR

This afternoon, during the last period of the day a new reading program for the whole school will be launched. It is called the DEAR program. What is DEAR?
It stands for Drop Everything And Read. Why is the whole school doing this? It is a campaign to promote reading. If you have a book, bring it to your 4th period class. If you need reading materials come to the library at lunch! Enjoy the very first DEAR of 2015!

Beacon

Beacon's Samosa Sale is back! Come out on Tuesday, February 3rd at lunch in the foyer for yummy samosas! Only 2 for a dollar! See you there!

Guidance

Any student who has signed up for night school at Thistletown C.I., please come to guidance to talk to a counsellor. Thitletown courses are not running. Let's look at other options.

Yearbook

Attention all graduates: If you would like a grad write up to appear next to your grad photo in the yearbook, now is the time to start writing. Please send your write up to ursus2015mci@gmail.com. Pick up a flyer from the front of the office, or your English teacher with all the details.

Amnesty

Hey Martingrove, do you like cookies, cupcakes and all other sweet treats? Do you want to help change the world? Then come down tot he cafeteria on Thursday February 3rd for Amnesty's We Bake for Change bake sale. Buy delicious treats and help empower families in developing communities with the resources they need to build a better future.

Special Education

Are you wanting to go to university?
The University of Toronto Perspectives Conference is on Thursday, February 19th. This conference is for students in Grades 10, 11, and 12 who are taking Academic/U or M level, Gifted, Pre-AP and AP classes. The cost of this conference is $25 (cash only) which includes lunch. Spend the day at University on the St. George campus attending lectures of your choice, and experiencing what University is like. For more information, see Ms. Hollingworth in Rm. 102. There is a maximum of 25 students who can go so get your permission forms and workshop choices in as soon as possible.
The deadline is February 6th.
