EQAO

The EQAO Grade 9 math test is coming up on Monday June 8th. The test is for all Grade 9 pre-ap, gifted, academic and applied students. This EQAO test will be administered from 8:30 to 12:00 pm and students must arrive at school at 8:30 am sharp. A list of rooms students will write in is posted in the Main Office. If you would like extra help, please speak to your classroom math teacher. If you have any questions about the Grade 9 EQAO math test, please see Mr. Masciotra.

Scholarships for people interested in helping others

The Michael Syron Burasry awards $1000 to high school students from Etobicoke who are entering a college or university program in humanities, law or social sciences. The award is designed for students who have overcome personal challenged in their pathway to a post-secondary program.

Scholarships to the U of T, Ryerson, York and Humber degree programs are available to female students from Etobicoke who need financial assistance to earn a university degree.

Scholarship with tight deadline!

Grads are invited to apply for the Abercrombie Scholarship worth approximately $500. Applicants must be leaders in their community and must be involved in athletics.
Martingrove can nominate only two students for this aware. Applications are available in Guidance by 4 pm on Wednesday, May 27.

All universities are required to let you know whether you have been accepted or denied a place by next Thursday, May 28.

Don't forget that a compulsory component of your high school diploma is proof of completing at least 40 hours of community service.We will accept letters, certificates or the TDSB volunteer passport--any kind of proof as long as it is a paper copy with a signature. You will not graduate if you do not hand in your community service hours! Do not let this happen! If you have any questions, come to Guidance.

Personal Fitness students:

This is a reminder that the 5K Summative Run takes place tomorrow morning. Please report to the foyer for registration at 8 am and race bib pick-up. The race starts at 8:30 am sharp. The forecast for tomorrow morning is only 5 degrees so please dress appropriately. If you do not run tomorrow morning you will have to attend the make-up. This make-up run is 12.5 laps on the track on May 27.

Jr Rugby

Congrats to the Jr Rugby team for winning the regional championships. We practice Wednesday after school, Thursday and Friday morning for our city semi-finals.

Martingrove small Music Ensemble is hosting their annual Music Melange next Tuesday, May 19 at 7pm in the band room. It's a night full of spectacular music, extraordinary performers and mind-blowing talent! Invite your friends and family and come out to support MCI's music program! Tickets are three dollars each.

In order for your request to be approved, you must

  1. Print the request form
  2. Get the form signed by your parent or guardian
  3. Bring it in to Guidance
This process is the same for both eLearning and in-class summer school. 
If you have any questions about summer school, speak with your Guidance counsellor soon.

To any student with an IEP (Individual Education Plan) who requires extra time or the use of computers, please fill out an Exam Request form in Rm. 102 and hand this into the Spec Ed Department. If you have signed up to write your exams in 102/103 afternoon exams will begin earlier--a 2 and 2.5 hours exam will begin at 10 am, a 1 and 1.5 hour exam will begin at 12 pm. Students who require TDSB busing will be writing exams in the morning only. Final date to submit this form is Friday, May 29.
